Clare from The Beauty Therapy Centre

The Beauty Therapy Centre is a well-respected salon run by Clare Barker.

Clare Barker PGCE, IHBC, CIDESCO, CITY& GUILDS

Clare has over 19 years experience, qualifying in 1987 after a three year full-time course. She offers a comprehensive range of beauty treatments including wedding make up and french manicures. Clare specialises in skin treatments, her facials and skin-care advise achieve fantastic results, she is also renowned for electrical epilation for permanent hair removal.

Clare opened The Beauty Therapy Centre in June 2004. The salon is open six days a week from 8.45am to 9.00pm on Monday to Friday and 8.30am to 6.00pm on Saturdays.

I have been in this industry for twenty years, but it continues to challenge and motivate me. I have introduced several new treatments this year: CACI firming facial, CACI body toning and Fake Bake spray Tanning, all of which have been fantastically well received."

Professional Development History

  • I graduated in 1987 after a three-year beauty/business course, qualified in all aspects of advanced beauty therapy and salon management
  • I ran a successful salon in Singapore for ten years, drawing on the oriental influence to expand my massage skills
  • I have been lecturing in dermatology and electrolysis on the ‘BTEC beauty therapy science’ course in Milton Keynes college for four years
  • I recently gained my PGCE teaching degree
  • I gained the Sterex Electroysis Teachers Diploma in 2006
  • I have enjoyed developing The Beauty Therapy Centre since opening in 2004 and look forward to its continuing success.

Toni Carter

Toni has over a year's experience after qualifying as 'Student of the year' with a full NVQ level 3 in Beauty Therapy.

Toni’s professional development goes from strength to strength; she is now in charge of the mobile branch of The Beauty Therapy Centre, offering pamper parties for groups of 4 to 10 ladies. Treatments such as manicures, Fake Bake spray tanning, back massage and pedicures can all take place whilst you and your friends relax with a glass of wine. andy Whyte Sports Therapist

 Andy Whyte Personal Trainer

Andy Whyte, our personal trainer and sports/massage therapist, is also available at the salon for deep tissue, remedial and sports massage treatments upon request.

Deep Tissue Massage:
For rehabilitation of sports injuries, sprains and strains. This is an
invigorating, therapeutic style massage that can greatly reduce the back pain caused by years of incorrect posture.

Swedish Massage:
A more gentle relaxing type of massage designed to stimulate blood and lymph circulation which in turn warms the muscles and encourages the removal of metabolic wastes and toxins from the body. It is also very helpful in the removal of post exercise lactic acid from the muscles, so aiding faster recovery.
