The Phoenix Styling Team are experienced to a high level with many of them having worked together for some fifteen years, starting together at the Award Winning Salon Business – Hair Exchange, which was based in Central Milton Keynes. It is a glowing testimonial to Sue and Mark Perry that all the stylists in the nine-strong, and growing, team have either worked with them before, or have been developed from school leavers through Apprenticeships at Phoenix. “We haven’t had to advertise to build our team as yet – they have all approached us,” says Mark. “This is great news, as all of the team know the standards that are expected of them and how important client care is to the salon. Once inside the door, you cannot fail to be impressed by the spacious, clean and glamorous interiors. Yet despite state-of-the-art equipment and the clean lines of the interior design, the surroundings will feel friendly and welcoming.
Phoenix has one of just 20 bespoke L’Oreal Color Bars in the country, putting them alongside hairdressing icons such as Charles Worthington. Used specifically for colour consultations, it is lit by natural daylight-quality bulbs, to ensure skin-tone and hair can be judged accurately. Other design features are free-standing shampoo basins that are infinitely adjustable and can accommodate wheelchair users as well as comfortable and adjustable backwash units; comfortable styling chairs, drying units and footrests and a drink dispensing area where there is a growing range of complimentary refreshments. There is also an attractive and spacious training area which can be made into a private space to suit wedding parties, makeovers or religious requirements.

Ongoing and regular training means that staff realise their potential, remain on-trend and motivated – Something which is also encouraged by incentives and in-house competitions. Hygiene standards are at the highest level with freshly washed and sterilised brushes and combs available to be used for every client and towels that are washed after every use. Surprisingly these hygiene standards are not universal throughout all hairdressing salons?!”
