Phoenix hair salon is ready for take-off
With a stunning new salon that would look at home in Mayfair, top city stylists Mark and Sue Perry are out to reclaim their position as Milton Keynes’ premier hairdressers.
It is six years since Mark and Sue sold their award winning business in Central Milton Keynes and it has taken four of those years to find suitable premises and redesign them to meet their exacting standards.
The result is Phoenix Hair & Body in Shenley Church End local centre where – joy of joys – parking is free and plentiful. And as nowhere in Milton Keynes is more than a 10- minute drive away, Phoenix will be a lot easier for clients to access.
Once inside the door, they cannot fail to be impressed by the spacious and glamorous interiors. Yet despite state-of-the-art equipment and all the latest trends being available, the surroundings may feel oddly familiar. And that will be because of familiar faces; it is a glowing testimonial to Sue and Mark that all the stylists in the seven-strong “new” team have worked for them before. “We haven’t had to advertise to build our team as yet – they all approached us,” says Sue. “This is a great start, as all the team know how we like to work and how important client care is to us. “We also know what great hairdressers they are!”
Phoenix has one of just 20 bespoke L’Oreal colour bars in the country, putting them alongside icons such as Charles Worthington. Used specifically for colour consultations, it is lit by daylight-quality bulbs, to ensure skintone and hair can be judged accurately. Other features are free-standing shampoo basins that are infinitely adjustable and can accommodate wheelchair users as well as comfortable and adjustable backwash units; comfortable styling chairs, drying units and footrests and a drink dispensing area where there is a growing range of complimentary refreshments. There is also an attractive and spacious training area which can be made into a private space to suit wedding parties, makeovers or religious requirements.
While the salon is bigger and even better equipped than its predecessor and in a more convenient location, Phoenix will operate to the same high standards and hold true to Mark and Sue’s values. Hygiene standards are of the highest with a new, sterilised brush and comb used for every client and towels washed after every use (something which is actually not universal). Ongoing training means that staff realise their potential and remain motivated – something which Sue also encourages by incentives and in-house competitions.
